Serif Craft Artist Pro 2

I doubt there’s many of you still using this software as Daisy Trail ceased to exist some time ago. It’s now been re-vamped into Serif Affinity Designer 2.

I have used this program for many years and just love it. I use if for all my Lilis Digital Designs, SVG downloads, my engraving designs and files and for images needed for my various websites.

When I changed computers, I didn’t have any problem installing it on Windows 11. I couldn’t remember where I saved my license number but then found it in the Registry Editor on my old PC under the Software section – Serif – Reg no.

Anyway, last week, for some strange reason, it stopped loading. I thought it was down to a Windows update – which it still might have been. I tried everything to try and get it to load but the wheel of doom just kept going round and round. I left it for hours but when I went back later, my computer had crashed.

I uninstalled the program, reinstalled it. Tried copying the files and folders from my old PC (where it was still working) but to no avail.

In desperation, I went to Microsoft and downloaded a whole new Windows installation (which keeps all your existing filed and folders)

I found out by accident why it wouldn’t work any more. And still don’t understand the reason. I assume it’s trying to connect to the internet, to a website that no longer exists. So, if I disconnect the internet, then open Craft Artist, it’s absolutely fine and I am able to reconnect without a problem. I just have to remember to keep disconnecting the internet before opening Craft Artist. If I forget, it won’t load and I have to go to Task Manager to End the program.

NOTE: There’s a download patch on the Affinity website. Don’t use it, the program just crashes for no reason and your work will be lost if it wasn’t recently saved.

It’s very easy to just disconnect your WIFI on your PC. Just click on the Wifi icon and ‘Disconnect’ bottom right of the monitor.

So, I hope this information may be of help to anyone out there with Craft Artist problems. And if you need any other help with Craft Artist, please contact me info@aunty-lils.co.uk
